Tineida is the easternmost village in the Dakhla Oasis and the first or last, point of civilization, depending on whether one is coming. It is located on the paved road between Dakhla and Kharga. Due to its importance as an oasis outpost, the village was plundered many times in its history. Today there is still a small village. The most interesting site to visit is a small cemetery located along the right side of the road just before the village. The tombs stand less than a meter high and resemble small houses; they are painted white or blue, and sometimes also with red. In the sandstone outcroppings along the road to Khargah there are prehistoric rock inscriptions and drawings of animals and human figures (CISS Inventory 2010; Vivian 1990).
